Reliable comfort in the best part of Da Nang.

This was my second stay in this little boutique hotel in the heart of Da Nang. The staff are fabulous, very friendly and helpful with any queries. One should keep in mind that this is not a big international chain hotel so the local language is preferred, but the staff do their best to communicate. The river-facing rooms offer a spectacular view, are spacious and the old style wooden floorboards create a luxurious feel. The front doors of the hotel open to the riverfront promenade, a vibrant place with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants, not far from the Han market. One can get a scooter organized in 10 min, and that is the best way to go to see the sights - Marble mountains are about 10 km and Hoi An is 30km.

The hotel is "tropical clean", so naturally some mold is expected here and there that grows when the AC is not running, and it is there. Some damage done by former guests has not been fixed, it is affecting the look but not the comfort. Overall, it is excellent value for money.

Very good location, not too far from the Dragon Bridge. The staff was very nice.

During our stay in Da Nang the room was very humid and cold, so sometimea it was feeling better to be outside. Shower was cold first night at midnight but was okay next night.

Worse place we have stayed at in Vietnam !!

Location

No glass in bathroom window. Two areas with wire hanging out of wall where a light should be. Grubby. Tiny stools to sit on on balcony. Bed like a brick. No tea or coffee provided. No cups. No minibar. Needs a complete overhaul. No breakfast provided which was a choice on booking which we paid for. When we went to pay on leaving (rushing to the airport) we were told we had to pay in cash even though the booking noted we could pay by Visa, Mastercard or Amex ! Told to go to ATM. Disgusting

Excellent hospitality!

Catinal Hotel is located in the very center of the Da Nang riverwalk with many restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and shops surrounding the hotel. I chose the river view suite with balcony. I recommend spending a few extra dollars to get an amazing view of the Dragon Bridge. The balcony was large enough to have a dinner table and chairs. Room had a sitting area, comfortable king size bed, large shower with hot water and good pressure, strong WiFi, and a/c. The hotel also offers motorbike rental and FREE same day laundry which is amazing for any traveler. Last but not least, the best thing about this hotel is that it’s a family ran business and they really treat guests like a member of the family. Thank you so much to Mrs. Thuan at the reception and Mrs. Tan housekeeping for making my stay so pleasant. I highly recommend Catinal Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Da Nang.

Awesome

I believe I had a free upgrade because the view across the river was first class. The bed was comfortable and room spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful , even giving me a free face mask. I would return again

My only criticism would be the shower was broken not functioning as it should. Oh.. and no breakfast

Good location

The location is amazing right on the river front. Our room was big, had 2 double beds, fridge, TV, kettle, huge bathroom with separated shower to stop the whole bathroom getting wet, free toiletries. Daily housekeeping and helpful staff. There’s a shop right under the hotel which is handy.

Loads of tiny little ants everywhere. Our bathroom window was missing so there was just a big hole in the wall.

Beautiful hotel with great staff!

We stayed there for two nights. The staff were great and both nights we were there, we were upgraded to a nicer room with an amazing view of the river and the other side of Da Nang. Both evenings, my wife and I wanted to get back to the hotel earlier to just look out the window at the amazing view.

Our room was on the second floor of the hotel, which meant we were closer to the street and a restaurant that didn't turn off it's music until 11:00 pm. Then in the second night there, my wife and I were awoken at 2:00am by someone watching television loudly. It wasn't until we called the staff to our room that we discovered it wasn't coming from a guest in the hotel, but rather someone is a connected property. Upon this discovery, we were upgraded again to the penthouse suite, which was nice. However, this occured at around 3:30am and my wife and I were checking out at 7:15, which meant I couldn't get back to sleep and we had less time to enjoy the great room. Unfortunately upon check-out we found that the property could only give us a modest discount on our previous night there, though in hindsight, this is understandable as they tried but couldn't get the other people to lower the volume and did everything they could to help us with this difficulty.

Authentic Vietnamese luxury in downtown Da Nang

The hotel is in an excellent location. We stayed in the best room and it was spacious and comfortable, good solid bed with a firm comfortable mattress, large bathroom, a sitting area an a terrace overlooking the river. It was reasonably clean, and cleaned daily. The staff were lovely. I could get my shirts ironed and I had to insist to pay for it. In Vietnam, in a Vietnamese hotel (i.e. not an international chain) this is high class, attainable for a fraction of the price of a low end room in a brand hotel. I will list some issues in the negatives simply to have travellers prepared for the local peculiarities; my overall impression, based on 20 years experience of regularly returning to Vietnam, was very favourable and that is reflected in the score.

As I stated in the positives, this is a rather good hotel. However there are some things one has to be aware of when staying in an independent hotel in Vietnam. The staff speaks ok English but do not expect that they understand any accent/slang straight away and be prepared to explain things in simple terms. There was no breakfast even though the room was listed as breakfast included - not an issue as one can get good, cheap food virtually outside of the door but be prepared. Cleanliness is wet tropical, that is, keeping mould away from the bathroom and hidden corners is impossible. Also the damage wrought by former guests (primarily smears of zinc sunscreen in carpets and curtains that is almost impossible to remove) remains visible. Outdoor lights broken but not fixed. There was a safe in the room but it was locked and not used in living memory, hence the staff could not open it.

Location had great proximity to market and tour bus stop. Walking area is waterfront . Staff was very helpful and kept our bags all day after we checked out .

There was a broken window in the bathroom that allow mosquitoes in. Otherwise was a pleasant place

Good value!

The staff were nice, the rooms were clean, the location was great- just minutes away from the dragon bridge! Good price for the rooms.

It’s not really clear but this place does not offer breakfast. Not a bid deal though as there are lots of cafes around so you can have your pick! PS- recommend booking a triple room as these come with city/ river views and double rooms have no windows!
